Program Information

 

Our programs suit a variety of skating levels.

 

Learn to Skate

Learn to Skate is designed for brand new skaters to develop basic skating skills, such as skating forward and backward and making snow, to become comfortable on the ice and prepare for Stage 1 of CanSkate. We recommend this program for 3–5 year olds that are new to skating.

Learn to Skate runs on Tuesdays from 5:00–5:30.

Note: Skaters must wear a CSA-approved hockey helmet.

CanSkate

CanSkate focuses on fundamental skating skill development in a fun environment. The skills built in CanSkate can be applied to various ice sports or physical activities. We recommend this program for 5 year olds and up.

CanSkate runs on Tuesdays from 5:40–6:30.

Note: Skaters must wear a CSA-approved hockey helmet until Stage 5.

Intro to STAR

The Intro to STAR program introduces high-level CanSkaters to the STAR (Skills, Tests, Achievement, and Recognition) figure skating program. Skaters will begin focusing on skills, dance, and freeskate, including jumps and spins. Skaters should be working on Stage 4–6.

Intro to STAR runs on Tuesdays from 6:30–7:20.

Note: Skaters must wear a CSA-approved hockey helmet until Stage 5.

Power Skills and Drills

Power Skills and Drills is a high energy instructional power skating program geared to hockey and ringette skaters that focuses on balance, power, agility, speed and endurance. Skaters should have some CanSkate experience to build on in Power Skills and Drills.

Session 1 is for beginner power skaters. Power 1 runs on Thursdays from 5:30–6:20.

Session 2 is for advanced power skaters. Power 2 runs on Thursdays from 6:30–7:20.

Note: Skaters must wear a CSA-approved hockey helmet .
